What to Expect...

As a longstanding annual tradition in Jasper, the Canada Day Parade can see 30+ participants ranging from local businesses, organizations and sporting groups and even the odd group of dinosaurs.

The parade begins at 1:00pm following the parade route depicted below. It will begin at the corner of Bonhomme St and Pyrmaid Lake Rd, turning south on to the Connaught Dr. As it passes the downtown core of Jasper, it will loop back onto Patricia Street via Hazel Ave. The final leg and last opportunity to observe the procession will be along Elm Ave.

Street Closures will be in effect between 10:30am and 3:00pm on July 1.

  • No Parking in the downtown area between these times.
  • Seek alternate methods of transport.
  • Streets affected: Pyramid Lake Road, Connaught Drive (Pyramid Lake Road to Hazel Avenue), Hazel Avenue, Patricia Street (Hazel Avenue to Elm Avenue), Elm Avenue.

Some tips to best enjoy the Parade…

  • Get there early, but not too early. We suggest finding your spot from 12pm onwards.
  • Avoid spots such as corners to allow for larger floats to turn safely.
  • Patio season is in effect. Please do not crowd in front of road side patios as space is limited.
  • We all love a sweet treat. Candy can be handed out and not thrown. Please ensure the kids stay safe and do not run out onto the road.

Registration

Do you want to be part of the Parade? Registrations are now open for submission.

Now that I have registered, what next?

  • Rally your Parade crew. Encourage as many people as possible to participate with you.
  • Get creating! You have your vision now make it come to life. Head down to the Jasper General Store or 3Sheets to get your crafting supplies.
  • Represent! Be it your culture, ethnicity, history, sporting group, business or organization; we want to see all things that make Jasper the place to be.

Parade Day!

  • All parade entries are expected to arrive at the Parade Marshalling Area along Bonhomme Street outside of the Jasper Activity Centre and forming to the south between 12:00pm and 12:30pm on July 1.
  • Please enter the marshalling area from the south for easier formation.Once you arrive you will be directed by the Parade Marshalling Coordinator to your position in the parade. Be kind, be patient – A lot will be happening in this short period of time.
  • The parade will begin at 1:00pm.

Some things to remember:

  1. All participants must follow the directions of the Parade Marshalling Coordinator.
  2. For safety reasons, distribution of candy or promotional material must be delivered by hand and not thrown.
  3. Drivers must be appropriately licensed.
  4. A safe vehicle speed must be adhered to.
  5. Do your best to avoid gaps in the parade procession. Don’t drive too fast, remember people want to enjoy your efforts.
  6. Road closures will occur from 10:30am. If you have larger floats including trailers, plan your route effectively as turning points will be limited.
